What is Asian Handicap Betting?

Asian Handicap is a football betting market that gives one team a virtual head-start (or deficit) in goals, and removes the draw as an outcome. Instead of three results (home/draw/away), you get two — which usually means better odds and a clearer bet.

How the lines work

A -1 handicap means your team must win by two or more for the bet to win; win by exactly one and the stake is refunded. Quarter lines like -0.75 split your stake across two handicaps. It sounds complex but it exists to price uneven matches fairly.

Why sharp bettors use it

By removing the draw, Asian Handicap concentrates the value into two outcomes and often runs a tighter margin than the standard 1X2 market. It is one of the most efficient ways to back a favourite or get insurance on an underdog.
